Features

Corduroy is a weft pile cotton fabric, made by interweaving a set of warp yarns and two sets of weft yarns, the ground weft and warp yarns are interwoven to form a solid pile, the wool weft and warp yarns are interwoven to cut the pile and then the pile covers the surface of the fabric and is finished to form various thicknesses of pile.

Fabric uses

Corduroy is a rounded, plump pile with a hard-wearing, thick texture, soft feel and good warmth. They are mainly used as fabrics for autumn and winter outerwear, shoes and hats, but also for furniture decoration, curtains, sofa fabrics, handicrafts, toys, etc.

Fabric washing

Corduroy should not be scrubbed or brushed with a hard brush, but gently brushed with a soft brush in the direction of the pile, not ironed and not heavily pressed to keep the pile plump and shapely. Printed corduroy is generally printed first and then brushed, so the design must take into account the effect of the brushed pile and the pattern should not be slim.

Common fabrics
Stretch

Stretch corduroy: The addition of stretch fibres to the warp and weft yarns of the corduroy base results in a warp and weft stretch corduroy. The addition of spandex improves the comfort of the garment and makes it fit tightly; it helps the base fabric to be tightly structured and prevents the corduroy from falling out; it improves the conformability of the garment and improves the phenomenon of arching knees and elbows in traditional cotton garments.

Viscose

Viscose corduroy: The use of viscose as a pile warp improves the drape, lightness and feel of traditional corduroy, with improved drape, bright lustre, vibrant colours and a smooth, velvet-like feel.

Polyester

Polyester corduroy: as the pace of life accelerates, the easy maintenance and washability of garments becomes more of a concern. Polyester corduroy is therefore an indispensable branch of the product. It is not only brightly coloured and washable, but also has good shape retention and is suitable for casual outerwear.

Coloured cotton

Coloured cotton corduroy: To meet the needs of today’s environmental protection, the use of new environmentally friendly materials in corduroy will certainly give it a new lease of life. For example, natural coloured cotton is used as the raw material (or the main raw material) to make thin corduroy for men’s and women’s shirts, especially children’s shirts for spring and autumn, which are protective of the human body and the environment.

Thick and thin stripes

Thick and thin strip corduroy: The fabric is cut in a bias way, so that the normal pile fabric forms thick and thin lines, as the length of the pile varies, thick and thin strips of pile high and low in order to enrich the visual effect of the fabric.

Intermittent cut type

Intermittent cut corduroy: the usual corduroy are floating long line through the cut, if take intermittent cut pile, the weft floating long line is cut at intervals, form both the pile vertical bump, but also the flush arrangement of the weft floating long depression, its effect is relief-like, three-dimensional sense of strong, new and chic appearance. The pile and non-pile indentations form variable strips, grids and other geometric patterns.

Flying hair

Flying corduroy: this style of corduroy requires a combination of cut pile technology and fabric organisation to create a richer visual effect. The normal corduroy pile has a V- or W-shaped unity at its roots, which is removed from the ground tissue at the point where it needs to be exposed, so that the weft floats long through the pile warp across two tissue loops, and when the pile is cut, a section of the weft in the middle of the two guide pins is cut off at both ends and sucked away by the suction device to create a stronger relief effect. If used in conjunction with the raw material, the ground tissue is made of filament, which is light and transparent, creating the effect of a rotten pile.

Frosty type

The frosting technique can be used in various specifications where the pile is a cellulose fibre. It strips the dye from the tip of the corduroy pile by means of an oxidising reducer to create a falling frost effect, an effect that not only caters for the return of the tide and imitates the old tide, but also improves the phenomenon of irregularly inverted or whitened pile at the easy-to-wear areas of the corduroy when it is taken, enhancing the taking performance and the grade of the fabric.

Two-colour

The two-colour corduroy has different colours of pile and pile, and the harmonious combination of the two shades creates a product style that shimmers with light in the haze and is warm in the depth, making the fabric both dynamic and static.
